A steam trap is a tool used to remove water and non-condensable gases from steam lines. A steam trap has three main responsibilities: maintaining low steam consumption levels, removing moisture from steam as it forms, and removing air and non-condensable gases. A typical steam trap is a simple, self-operating valve that opens, closes, and adjusts as needed to ensure that none of these three functions are performed without incident. There are four different types of traps. They are mechanical, temperature, thermodynamic as well as venturi.

Although these types operate on the basic basis of automatic valves, they are constructed differently from one another and different types are more suitable for different equipment. Mechanical steam traps have a floating tool that keeps steam levels constant. The float rises and falls according to the degree of condensation, triggering the valve to open and close as needed. An inverted bucket trap, which resembles an inverted wholesale bib tap manufacturers  bucket and a ball float steam trap, which contains a large number of balls as a flotation device, are two examples of mechanical traps. High temperature steam traps function in a slightly different way. The temperature level causes the air to increase or contract the vapor in the canister. This action automatically closes the valve or closes.

A thermostatic trap falls into this category, these types of temperature traps contain a thermostatic vent, a vapor chamber that releases air and non-condensable gases. Thermodynamic steam traps operate on the flow of liquid and steam in response to the tank as they move through the chamber. When steam moves into the valve area, a special thermodynamic steam disc created by a natural force moves against the valve, shutting it off, or tuing it on as needed to control the steam. Operation of these types of traps, even if only a small amount of steam is in the chamber, can cause a significant amount of wear and tear on the trap itself. Venturi steam traps, sometimes called mouth traps, have a unique construction, but are effective.

They contain a venturi valve, which is designed to restrict the flow of a liquid or gas by passing it through a narrow area of ​​the pipe. The unusual shape of the valve allows the steam to dissipate in the time it takes to build up and pass it to the low pressure chamber of the valve. As a result, a very low level of steam is discharged from the tank.
